In the 54-minute match, Tai encountered the threat from Chen Yufei as 21-23 in first game, but then quickly made an adjustment in the following two by 21-15, 21-9. The mixed doubles final was exactly the rematch of 2016 Rio Olympics final, Malaysian Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying finished as runners-up against top seed Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir.
Though with the same results, Chan/Goh went through high-quality battles by defeating compatriots Goh/Lai and pulling down two competitive pairs from China. Following the titles at Thailand Masters and US Open, they proclaimed another strong bounce back since they reunited in January.
