Round 2 of the German Open 2013-Home favorite Schenk to face tough opponent Tai Tzu Ying in the quarter finals

Germany had three players/pairs go through in Round 2 of the German Open, Schenk in the women’s singles, Marc ZWIEBLER in the men’s singles and INGO/JOHANNES in the mixed doubles. Hot favorites to take the men’s doubles title, Ko Sung Hyun/Lee Yong Dae overcame their opponents 22-20,21-12 and continue on the way to the final.

Showing strength in depth, the South Korean team had seven players/pairs go through to the quarterfinals. Ko Sung Hyun/Lee Yong Dae’s opponents in the next round will be China’s Liu Xiao Long and Qiu Zi Han, while Kim Ki Jung/ Kim Sa Rang will face Germany’s INGO/JOHANNES. In the women’s singles, Sung Ji Hyun needed just 35 minutes to dispose of her opponent and will face Indonesia’s APRILLA in the next round.
 
In the men’s singles, top seed Chen Long crushed his Dutch opponent, showing his “champion in waiting” credentials, and will face Germany’s Marc ZWIEBLER in the next round.  England’s Rajiv OUSEPH caused an upset by beating Japan’s Sho SASAKI and will face Indonesia’s Tommy SUGIARTO in the quarter finals.

Tai Tzu Ying learned a lesson from her loss at January’s VICTPR Korean Open Super Series Premier, beating China’s Han Li 21-19,17-21,21-17 and will play Germany’s Schenk in the quarter finals. These two world class players are sure to serve up a treat for badminton fans.
