Ko Sung Hyun wins twice in one day!
The Badminton Asia Championship 2013 officially kicked off on April 17 at the Taipei Dome. All players did their best to do well and the ROK’s Ko Sung Hyun/ Lee Yong Dae played extremely well in the first round. Ko actually won in his first round men’s doubles and mixed doubles matches so sailed through to the second round in both.

Ko/Lee played with great energy against their Chinese Taipei opponents Tsai China Hsin/ Lee Sheng Mu and had them on the back foot from the start. The Chinese Taipei pair did put up some resistance but were unable to find their best form and went down 21-17, 21-14 to the disappointment of the home fans.
In the mixed doubles, Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na were playing in their first tournament as a pair. Ko revealed before that they have practiced together a few times as a doubles partnership and are still getting used to each other. As their coach predicted, their first round match was hard work but they were able to come through and win in three games.
China’s players again showed their class, providing a treat for the crowd.Lin Dan and Chen Long in the men’s singles and Yu Yang/Wang Xiao Li in the women’s doubles all sent their opponents packing in straight games, while London Olympics women’s single champion Li Xue Rui beat her compatriot Sun Yu 21-15,21-18.
Chinese Taipei’s young hope Tai Tzu Ying was up against Malaysia’s CHEAH Lydia Li Ya. In the deciding third game her crafty and energetic play proved too much of a handful for her opponent and Tai took the match 21-16,13-21;21-9;she will play China’s Han Li in the next round.
