Malaysian no.1 duo Tan Wee Kiong and Goh V Shem rallied from two match points down on Sunday at the Denmark Open to outwit Thailand’s Isara/Phuangphuapet, taking their first Superseries crown as a team since 2014, and it’s already a Premier title. With the 11,000 winner’s points to be added, Tan/Goh is projected to rewrite their high ranks and to rise to world no.2 when Thursday’s new BWF ranking goes up.

As one of the most consistent pairings in the last two seasons, Tan/Goh finally got the breakthrough week they needed, coming nowhere else but in Rio this August, where they make their final debut in a major. Despite settling just second after squandering match points back then, they took revenge this week from match points “down,” overcoming their unseeded Thai opponents 14-21, 22-20, 21-19. Tan/Goh continues to lead the race to Dubai’s the BWF Superseries Finals.

Taiwan’s Tai Tzu Ying found herself again one of the strongest contenders at the highest stage. The Indonesia Open champion reached her third Superseries Premier final in the 2016 season only falling to Japan’s Yamaguchi in a three-game battle on Sunday. She was also the silver medalist at the Celcom Malaysia Open.

Team VICTOR Korea took away two silvers. Son Wan Ho wrapped up the week with his third Superseries runner-up finish this year after losing to Saensomboonsuk. Son appeared to have stepped up the gear drastically post-Olympic, reaching the semifinals at least at all three majors.

Defending Denmark Open champions Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan also finished with silver. They suffered a first loss to top-ranked Matsutomo/Takahashi in the title match after riding an 8-win streak, having triumphed at the VICTOR Korea Open last month.
